There has recently been new press speculation that the tourist scene in Menorca holidays market is changing!
Menorca's economy is virtually reliant on tourism. Since the earlyseventies the Island has marketed itself as the mediteranean's quietdestination for a two week package holiday.
Originally the season ran for just four months from June until September.Recently there has been a new and gradual entension to the season with package holidayssold between April and October. As you may already have seen my wife and I havetaken a week long break as late as October and enjoyed excellent weather.
However we are part of the ever increasing "holiday villa tourists", whoare supposedly more likely to take two summer breaks due to their higherdisposable income. Who was it said "you can prove anything with statistics?
One of the problems with early and late season is the reducing number of flights which make it difficult to take a short break or a weekend away as you can do to Barcelona or Madrid.
The Menorcan scenery and terrain it beautiful at most times of the year andMenorca's rich culture and history is well suited to those who take culture breaks for three or four days. Prehistoric Tour weekend breaks to the ancient stone monoliths are hardly affected by unsettled Mediteranean weather.
Menorca, like many holiday destinations will be forced to adapt to a fast changing holiday mix, especially in light of the current recessionary pressures.I am sure Menorca will respond quickly to esure the island's place in the tourist market place and rest assured Menorca Minorca will be keeping you updated on developments through our web pages and our free blog subscription.
