The Volcanic Ash Cloud !

The Volcanic Ash Cloud is Back!

This might be an old headline but let's face it it could be the headline at any time throughout 2011 according to some experts.

However if the Ash Cloud does not get you Industrial Action at your departure airport could ruin your holiday plans.

Does this mean that we must abandon your visit to Menorca for fear that you could get stuck on the island if you are not delayed on your way out?

The answer is a resounding no!

Menorca is fairly straight forward to reach from London without flying. You take an afternoon Eurostar to Paris, the overnight 'trainhotel' from Paris to Barcelona. Take in the sites for the day and then catch an overnight ferry from Barcelona to Menorca.

You can start by taking an afternoon Eurostar from London to Paris in just 2 hours 20 minutes, then the excellent Elipsos trainhotel overnight from Paris to Barcelona. The trainhotel has cosy bedrooms, a restaurant and a café-bar. The Gran Clase bedrooms even have a private toilet and shower Fares start at £69 return for Eurostar from London to Paris plus £132 return on the trainhotel from Paris Barcelona including a bed in a 4 sleeper for the night. For £292 return, per person you can enjoy a 2 bed Gran Clase sleeper with private shower & toilet Dinner with wine and breakfast, the following morning, is included in the fare!

Plus it's a far more environmentally friendly way to travel to Spain.

Regular ferry services by Acciona Trasmediterranea Ferries run from Menorca Ferries port and Ibiza San Antonio ferry port (on the other side of the island) to the other Balearic Islands and to the Spanish mainland.

Menorca Ferries port address: Estacion Maritima 07700 Menorca
