Looking Forward to Winter?

In England the weather took a turn for the worst as the Bank holiday weekend approached and although parts of the UK were bathed in sunshine the rest of us had showers and unseasonally low temperatures. Today the weatherman on the radio started to talk about autumnal weather.

Was I pleased to have booked a short break in Menorca in mid September.

As you read your newsletter I will be researching even more interesting facts about my favourite island. Before I depart I began to think about the onset of a UK winter and started to think about the accepted shortness of the Menorcan Season.

As autumn turns into winter in the UK I remember holidays in Menorca in October and the fabulous weather we experienced in that month last year.

True the winter is now only weeks away but winter in Menorca is still Mediterranean and dispite the cooling tramuntana wind, winter in the island is still a special time.

Gone are the crowds but the sun shines on average for 5 hours a day. The temperature has dropped but day time temerature of 14ºC are the norm and walking holidays, playing golf tennis and cycling are still attractive activities. We are also led to believe that winter is the best time for windsurfing in the waters around Menorca.

Travelling to Menorca in the winter is the perfect time to enjoy pure and simple Spanish culture and to revel in a wonderful feeling of peace and tranquility. If you are feeling energetic there are still the prehistoric sites to see and the museums to visit.

In the next few additions we will show you the best of winter in Menorca and the special attraction for visitors out of season.

Web Site Update

Regular readers will be aware that Menorca Minorca goes from strength to strength and a major factor is the interaction and feedback we receive from our visitors. In the last few weeks we have introduced the Postcard Feature so you can tell your friends about the Island

At the end of August we added our Feedback Page. Please do help us to make this site even better by adding your photos and thoughts via our Feedback Page.

Jeep Safaris

New this year, and we understand available after the normal season, are the Jeep Safaris. This is an exciting way to discover Menorca as they take spectacular routes along dirt trails to idyllic unspoilt beaches. The route includes picturesque countryside lanes, charming villages and visits many points of interest along the way.

Jeep Safaris are a unique day out whether you are a family looking to have a good time with the kids or someone who loves nature and wishes to get to know the island at close quarters.

On each safari you will be accompanied by an experienced guide and the day is punctuated by a variety of stops where you are free to explore by foot, swim, or just relax in magical surroundings.

Safaris can be arranged to meet your special needs or interests.

The web site at www.jeepsafarimenorca.com will provide more information but you may be as well to email or telephone.

Catamaran Charter in Menorca

It is often said that the only true way to see Menorca is from the sea. We would add to that to hone the experience to perfection this experience should be undertaken in a small group.

As most of us are not sailors the answer may lie in CATAMARAN CHARTER. This company, based in Fornells can give you the virtually unique experience off sailing along the north coast of Menorca in a catamaran crewed by an experienced captain and first mate who are at your service to answer your questions and to make sailing fun and accessible to everyone on board.

The north coast of Menorca has many stunning bays with crystal clear water which accessible from the sea. Here you can stop and revel in the unspoilt beach and turquoise waters.

You can try your hand at snorkelling, relax in the sun and enjoy a tasty picnic. Their catering service can be adapted to suit your tastes.

There are 10 places on board at a cost of between € 89 and € 100 depending on the season, food and drinks included.. A group of 10 can then have the boat to themselves for a full day starting at 10.00 right up to 18.00. Half day cruises are also available as are sunset cruises.

You can telephone 626 486 426, email: info@catamarancharter.net : or visit their website http://www.catamarancharter.net/uk/index.htm to contact Alberto about your requirements. The catamaran operates from Paseo Marítimo no.79, Fornells.

Although not cheap it certainly will provide you with the experience of a lifetime. Again if you have used this service let us hear about it on our feedback page.
